June in Paris

by Carson Reynolds

For a bit of a summer vacation I flew over to Paris to spend a week wandering about with Joëlle. As luck would have it I caught (and promptly passed along) a nasty cold that lay waste to my first few days. But in the remaining days we managed to eat some Senegalese food, catch De La Soul, go to the Louvre and Musée d’Orsay, see the Sorbonne, and go bouldering in Fontainebleau. I also started and finished Noel Annan’s The Dons. To my surprise, I realize that I feel quite at home there, despite having not even enough French to make conversation at a party. I’d like to go back and stick around for a while.
